Mr Deepak Verma is a Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and has over 4 decades of experience as a lawyer, high court Judge and Supreme Court Judge.
He is currently working as an independent legal practitioner and doing his own independent legal work of consultation, opinion, advice and arbitration. He serves as an arbitrator in numerous ad-hoc and Institutional arbitrations in India and abroad and as an independent expert on matters of Indian law.
In this experience as a lawyer and judge he has conducted and delivered judgements to a variety of cases involving Contract law, Constitutional law, Taxation law, Corporate Law, Administrative Law, Environmental law, Family disputes and so on. He was also appointed as Welfare Commissioner after the Bhopal Gas tragedy, to disburse the amount of compensation to the victims of this event.
He started his career in 1972 as an advocate at the Madhya Pradesh High Court. In 1994 he was elevated as a judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court. Later in 2008 he was transferred as Judge of Karnataka High Court. In 2009 he was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan and in the same year he was elevated to the Bench of Supreme Court of India. He retired from as Judge of the Supreme Court in 2012.
He serves on the board of various academic institutions such as Symbiosis international university, Ansal university, Uttarakhand sanskrit university, Shobit University, Kumaun University amongst others.His is interested in long meaningful associations with legal aids activities in India.
