Description

Hon’ble Justice Kanade started practicing at the Bombay High Court in June, 1979. He has dealt in civil, criminal & constitutional cases. From 1988 to 1990, he worked as an Assistant Government Pleader in the Writ Cell and from 1986 to 1989 he was High Court Panel Counsel for the Union of India. He was also Panel Counsel for state of Maharashtra from 1992 to 2000.

He has represented various government corporations and has appeared in the Election petitions in the High Court under the Representation of People Act, 1950. He has appeared on behalf of a number of educational institutions on educational matters as well. He has conducted cases under Excise Act in CEGAT and in the High Court.

He was a part time lecturer at New Law College, Mumbai from 1985 to 1991 and a visiting Professor, Department of Law at University of Mumbai from 1992 to 1995.

On 12th October 2001, he was elevated as High Court Judge. During his tenure as a Judge of the Bombay High court from 2001 to 2016 he has encouraged parties to resolve their disputes in an amicable manner via mediation. He was also the Chairman of the Mediation committee of Bombay High court and the executive chairman of the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority Mumbai. He has been the acting Chief Justice of Bombay High court in the years 2015 & 2016.

Hon’ble Justice Kanade has also served as the Chairman of the Governing Council, Government Law College; and Chairman of the Committee for monitoring functioning of the Juvenile Justice Boards in the State of Maharashtra.
